The Invisible Shores starts from the sweeping voyage of Guo Chuan, the first Chinese man to take on a solo, non-stop circumnavigation. It is a 130 days of pounding against the wind the waves on a 40-feet boat in the 21,000 miles seaway, and he made it. When fame comes knocking and everyone thinks that Guo Chuan, 49 already, should settle down to enjoy the glory and spend family time with his newborn baby, Guo Lunbu, named after Columbus, the father was considering to set forth another voyage to cross the arctic sea, solo. Three years later in 2016, after conquering the arctic route as another human record, Guo prepared to cross the pacific between San Francisco and Shanghai, a journey that seems less adventurous. On Oct 25,2016, he lost trace 800 knots to the south of Hawaii and has not been found since.

In the past 5 years, The Invisible Shore followed Guo's career development and family life, trying to understand the weight of a man's vision. Guo is an alien to his time, not to barter anything for the dreams to chase. He may be a tragedy to his family, but a legend to call on everyone of us, that how much we are ready to pay for what we are.

This film features in the 2018 Mount Everest Climbing mountaineer Xia Boyu who has injuries in both legs. It also has clips from the 1975 documentary about Chinese Mountaineering Team, which re-shows the Xia' s experience of 244 meters away from the summit of Mount Everest. However on the way back, he suffered the injuries in his legs out of the coldness. For the past 43 years, he never forgot his dream and prepared both physically and technically for climbing once again. We want to show his strong will and perseverance.
