The stories in the documentary TV series This Is Life mainly happen in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. By showing the stories of dozens of pregnant mothers and their families bringing new lives to the world through the fresh, lively and direct camera language, we expect to show the audience of the shock of witnessing death and the excitement of welcoming life.
Our vision not only stays inside the hospital, but by following the characters it also extends into the cities and countrysides outside. The camera vividly presents how every case of birth of new lives would affect every individual, his family and the complicated Chinese society, and also, how they can reflect the way of numerous living beings feel the joy and pain of the mortal world.
Through the huge amount of stories and the most dramatic plot and starting from the compassionate perspective, This Is Life is intended to represent the most authentic, most lively, most distressing and the most warmhearted portrait of the Chinese social environment.
